Craig Slaughter is Executive Director of the West Virginia Investment Management Board, the entity responsible for investing the State’s moneys, its defined benefit plans, and Workers’ Compensation Funds. Mr. Slaughter has been responsible for the State’s investment portfolio since leaving the practice of law in 1989. He has been instrumental in bringing the State’s investment structure into the modern era. Mr. Slaughter is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder. He has a Juris Doctor Degree from West Virginia University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Cornell University. He is a member of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys, and the West Virginia State Bar. He also serves on the boards of the West Virginia Land Trust and Thomas Health System.

Matthew E. Jones is the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operations Officer of the West Virginia Investment Management Board (IMB). He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and a Certified Cash Manager. Prior to his employment with the IMB, Mr. Jones served as the Chief Financial Officer for the IMB’s predecessor entities, the West Virginia Board of Investments and the West Virginia Trust Fund, Inc. He began his public service career in 1989 with the West Virginia State Treasurer’s office where he is credited with reengineering the internal control structure and financial reporting process for the State of West Virginia’s investment operations. He served on the task force for the Governmental Accounting Standards Board responsible for the development of GASB Statement 31, “Accounting and Financial Reporting for Certain Investments and External Investment Pools.” Prior to his public service career, Mr. Jones was a Manager with the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young.
He is a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
