Craig Slaughter is Executive Director of the West Virginia Investment Management Board, the entity responsible for investing the State’s moneys, its defined benefit plans, and Workers’ Compensation Funds. Mr. Slaughter has been responsible for the State’s investment portfolio since leaving the practice of law in 1989. He has been instrumental in bringing the State’s investment structure into the modern era. Mr. Slaughter is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder. He has a Juris Doctor Degree from West Virginia University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Cornell University. He is a member of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys, and the West Virginia State Bar. He also serves on the boards of the West Virginia Land Trust and Thomas Health System.
Melissa Petit, Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer

Melissa Petit serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the West Virginia Investment Management Board (WVIMB), which manages the investments of state and municipal defined benefit plans, insurance programs, endowments, trusts, and other state funds. Melissa oversees the organization’s financial and administrative operations, along with the mid- and back-office functions that support its investment activities. She has been with the WVIMB since 1996, following her work in public accounting, and spent much of her tenure as Director of Internal Audit. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. She is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Investments & Derivatives Auditor. Melissa is also an active member of the West Virginia Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and The Institute of Internal Auditors.
